Forét with "The Golden Stairs" at Nature's Treasures during one of our Art Hop events. |
With her blend of surrealism and
magnificent colors, Forét has recently been acclaimed as the
most significant primitive artist to emerge from the south Louisiana
country environment in the last 40 years. Forét first
entered the Louisiana art scene in Mandeville in the year 2000 at the
Gallery of Louisiana Art. So highly well received were her offerings
that in 110 days she sold all 176 of her original paintings.
******************************* Forét lives secluded in a remote area in Southern Louisiana near the Atchafalaya Swamp. Painting the scenes that surround her, Forét captures life in the old south. Accompanied by her dog that was rescued from an abusive home, she heads into the wilderness to select the perfect tree stump to serve as her easel. Her mood music is the sound of birds, small animals and the wind whistling through the trees that have become the walls of her studio. She will frequently go into the woods near dawn or dusk to capture the colors and shadows that only fleeting moments of nature can provide. Forét paints her feelings in colors of the moment that reflect her mood. She says that many of her paintings come from the deepest part of her soul. A true blend of artistic creativity with nature as the model. |
